The Flying Apron Cafe and Bakery 268 Anderton Rd. Comox 236-655-6604
Kayla, a red seal pastry chef, purchased the former Comox Bakery and began renovating! Understanding the needs of patrons, she tackled the once unwieldy customer area. Completely rearranging the space she created an ungendered wheelchair accessible washroom with room for an attendant if needed. The tables are nicely spaced leaving room for wheelchairs, strollers, and room to have a coffee with friends and not feel intrusive on any one else.
The Flying Apron bakery, as "a European-style bakery, with a North American influence", is a great place to pick up delicious and special cakes, scones and pastries including gluten free and vegan options. Kayla has created a very accommodating, accessible cafe and bakery.
Thanks to Kayla for deliberately designing and constructing an accessible and inviting Cafe Bakery creating a more inclusive Comox Valley!

Impresso Cafe #105 1811 Comox Avenue in Comox
While a tragic fire destroyed the much beloved Komox Grind, from the ashes and with the same enthusiastic, inventive and customer oriented spirit, a new Cafe emerged:
A family run business delivering excellent beverages, delicious foods and a delightful warm welcome.
Having gutted the entire former premise, the owners rebuilt everything... better. The accessible washroom is easier to access, bigger and all to code. It was a deliberate business decision for them and I am grateful for the thoughtfulness.
With the on street outdoor seating, views of mountains and the Comox Bay, this is a great place to meet for a coffee or other favourite beverage.
Thanks to the Ievgrashyn family for creating an inviting and accessible Cafe!

Bosley's in Comox at Unit 2 2225 Guthrie Rd in Comox
Bosley’s Comox ( a subsidiary of Pet Valu) installed automatic door openers to make life easier for their patrons and staff.
While it took a little time to get the details worked out on the installation, it will make life so much easier for everyone.
Meg, the store manager advocated for the devices to assist all the patrons of the store. Kudos for Bosley’s Comox for going the extra distance to make Comox Valley just that little bit more accessible for everyone.
